| Tuesday, 23 April, 2002, 12:24 GMT 13:24 UK Rape trial shown film footage ![]() The trial is at the High Court in Edinburgh A student who says she was raped after being drugged by a man she met during a night out has watched pictures of herself staggering away from an Edinburgh nightclub. A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh was shown footage from security cameras at the city's Subway club. The film showed the victim chatting at the bar with a man she identified in court as being the accused. Robert Lyttle, 26, from Bangor, Co Down, is accused of giving the 21-year-old woman a substance last February to make her incapable of resisting.
He denies forcibly stripping his victim before raping her and making her carry out other sex acts which left her severely injured. The student, who cannot be named to protect her identity, told a jury on Monday that she took a sip from a bottle and soon afterwards did not know what was happening to her. On Tuesday, the jury was shown footage from security cameras at the nightclub in Lothian Road. The student said she had felt perfectly well when she began chatting to the man at the bar. However, she said she had no memory of what happened at about the 0300 BST closing time of the club. Describing the images, she said: "I cannot really hold myself up very well." 'Feeling strange' She agreed that she was not steady on her feet in the pictures taken outside the club. Although she had been drunk before, she said she had never felt like she did that night. The woman said she was "feeling strange as I was walking along, almost feeling like I was floating along". She claimed she was taken away in a car and forced to have sex and commit other painful, degrading acts. The trial continues. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Scotland stories now: Links to more Scotland stories are at the foot of the page. | |||||||||||||||||||||
