| Tuesday, 19 February, 2002, 07:06 GMT Report calls for education boost ![]() The report highlights the need for support services More needs to be done to encourage young people into further education in Scotland, according to a new report. Research to be released on Tuesday suggests students will only make a success of education if additional support and guidance is available. The report, which has been prepared by government inspectors, looks at the transition from school to college. It largely focuses on students with particular support needs, including disabled students and those whose experiences or other factors put them at risk of dropping out from education altogether. The Moving On report says that there is generally good practice in Scotland, but that more needs to be done on a national basis. It recommends that additional support and guidance is made available, and that all young people are given the chance to benefit and progress to further and higher education. The Association of Scottish Colleges has welcomed the study. It said there was evidence that much more was on offer to those who want to continue their education but who were left out in the past. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Scotland stories now: Links to more Scotland stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
