Woman wins back daughter
Louise Soliman and Darine
Mrs Soliman's two daughters are now home
A Glasgow woman has returned home from Egypt with her young daughter after a dispute with her estranged husband.

Louise Soliman's two girls were taken from her last year when she travelled to Egypt to see her husband and his family.

She was able to bring four-year-old Karina home in time for Christmas after paying another visit to Tamer Soliman and his parents, Hussein and Nazik Soliman.

However, she had to leave 18-month-old Darine behind.

The girls' grandmother said the separation was difficult

On Sunday, Mrs Soliman travelled to Egypt with her local MP Tony Worthington, who has been negotiating with the family.

They were accompanied by Glasgow Govan MP Mohammed Sarwar, who has helped recently with the Egyptian authorities.

They flew back on Monday along with Darine.

Mrs Soliman, 23, from Faifley, near Clydebank, was estranged from her husband in 2000. They met in London and were married in 1997.

The two children were taken from her when she returned to Egypt last year to let them meet their father and grandparents.

She returned to visit the family last November and was able to bring Karina home after spending three weeks in Egypt.

Johanne Logan, Darine's grandmother, said: "It's been a total nightmare, nobody can imagine what it's like to be without your granddaughters - with them so far away, in another country and seeing your daughter going through what she went through."

'Where they belong'

She added: "We've been fighting hard to get these girls back."

At Heathrow Airport, in London, Mrs Soliman said she was relieved that the family's ordeal was nearly over and that she was looking forward to the future with her daughters.

She said: "Two back here with me, that's what I'm happy about. My two kids are home. Home where they should be. Home where they belong with their mother."

The two MPs have also indicated they will help Mr Soliman appeal a decision not to renew his visa to stay in Britain so he can see his daughters.
