| Tuesday, 11 December, 2001, 22:00 GMT Carstairs patients end rooftop protest ![]() The protest began at the weekend A rooftop protest at Scotland's state hospital has come to an end. Two patients came down after spending more than three days on the roof of the kitchen building at Carstairs. A third man had earlier ended his protest at the Lanarkshire complex. They were among a number of patients who have access to the hospital grounds and had been walking there before they climbed up on to the roof of the kitchen building.
One man came down but the other two remained on the roof until about 1930BST on Tuesday. A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said: "One of the men who was initially involved in the protest came down from the roof yesterday. "The protest was concluded earlier this evening when the two men came down safely from the roof after negotiating with state hospital staff who were assisted by Strathclyde Police. "The three men will be subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident."
