Sports students stripped for action
Glasgow University Calendar
The students hope the calendars will be a hit
Sports teams at the University of Glasgow have stripped for action - to appear in a cheeky calendar and raise money for it sports associations.

Organisers of the calendar hope the strip will boost the profile of sport at the university, while raising funds for a new mini-bus.

Each month a different team will feature with strategically placed sports equipment sparing their modesty.

The lacrosse teams are among the first to bare all for the cameras.

'Tastefully done'

They will appear together, as in a traditional team photograph, with the women on the front row and men at the back.

Others taking part include members of the university's fencing, sailing, squash and sub-aqua teams.

The calendars are expected to go on sale soon at 5 each.

Glasgow University Sports Association (GUSA), which has organised the calendar, said 2,000 copies were being printed with all expected to be snapped up.

GUSA president Rachel Stevens said: "We're making this calendar to raise the profile of the sports association.

"So far, everything has been tastefully done and we're going to pick the best and funniest photographs to go in."

Last month, a serious fire on the main campus of the University caused nearly 5m worth of damage.

The blaze devastated the 100-year-old Bower building, just off University Avenue.
