Some of the seals found at South Ronaldsay, in Orkney, were heavily pregnant females who would have been ashore to give birth to their pups. The animals were found close to where 26 seal pups were shot six years ago. Orkney Seal Rescue said at least two of the seals have bullet wounds. However, a local vet said the cause of death has still to be established. Ross Flett, from Orkney Seal Rescue, said that there were people in the community who were prepared to shoot seals and would carry on until their firearms were taken away. | See also: Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Scotland stories now: Links to more Scotland stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||
