Murder hunt for Turkish man's killer
Police car
The murder inquiry was launched into the death in Glasgow
A murder inquiry has been launched after a Turkish man was killed in a brutal attack that police say may be racially motivated.

The 22-year-old was walking in the Sighthill area of Glasgow with a 16-year-old youth when he was attacked just after midnight on Sunday.

The victim, who has not been named, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said a murder inquiry had been opened into the incident which officers say could have been racially motivated.

She said: "We understand this man was returning from a night out in the city centre with a friend when this incident took place.

"We are treating this as murder and have not ruled out the possibility that this was a racially motivated attack."

There have been more than 70 racist attacks in the Sighthill area of Glasgow, home to more than 1,500 asylum seekers, in the last 14 months.
