Rail services have been disrupted by the blaze

A fire brigade spokesman said: "We still have six fire engines, three aerial appliances and a command unit at the scene and we will probably be there dampening down for most of the day."

On the damage, he added: "Early into the operation about 70% of the warehouse was ablaze and we had to contend with a partial collapse of the building."

On Saturday evening ScotRail ordered all trains to and from Glasgow Central Station to be stopped because smoke was obscuring signals.

A spokesman for ScotRail said that the inner circle line of the Cathcart Circle would remain closed on Sunday until it was given the all clear by fire officers.

The stations affected are Pollokshields East, Queens Park, Crosshill, Mount Florida and Cathcart.

Services to East Kilbride and Kilmarnock will be delayed by around 15 minutes, while services to Inverclyde and Ayrshire will be unaffected.

The spokesman said: "We are in the hands of the fire service as to when we can reopen the line.

"One of main problems is the danger of one of the factory walls collapsing onto an overhead power structure."

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said that Kilbirnie Street at Eglinton Street and Salkeld Street at Cook Street will probably be closed for the rest of the day.
