| Monday, 19 February, 2001, 18:10 GMT Woman shot in post office robbery ![]() The gang struck at the Clippens Post Office A 31-year-old female security guard has been taken to hospital after being shot during a post office robbery. The woman sustained the gunshot wound during the raid in Clippens Road, Linwood, on Monday at 1120GMT. She was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where her condition was described as serious but stable. Police said two or possibly three men escaped with a five-figure sum after holding up a security van which was delivering cash to the post office.
"Members of the public are urged to contact police if they come across any bank notes which appear to be stained with dye. "Police enquiries indicate that two men, possibly three, were responsible for the robbery." She added that the gang escaped in a vehicle which was found a short distance away. It is believed that the gang then transferred to a second vehicle, which was later discovered on fire in the Dalry area. |
