Fish workers in lottery win
Lottery ticket
Three winners shared the 20m jackpot
Six fish factory workers from the south west of Scotland have won 6.6m on the National Lottery.

A lucky dip ticket won the syndicate from Stranraer a share of Saturday's 20m Superdraw prize.

The leader of the syndicate reportedly learned of their win while watching the gameshow Who Wants to be a Millionnaire?

And at least one of the winners has vowed not to return to work after scooping her 1.1m share of the jackpot.

It is excellent news. Everybody in the factory is really on a high

Andrew Dickie, factory manager
Susan Kennedy, who is 11 weeks pregnant, said she was delighted with the win.

She said it would not change her life - but vowed not to return to work at Pinney's fish processing factory at Finnart's Bay, Ballantrae.

She worked at the Dumfries and Galloway factory, which produces smoked salmon, alongside fellow winners Betsy Love, Tommy McCutcheon, Irene McColm, Moira Mann and Steven Muir.

Manager Andrew Dickie told BBC Scotland on Monday that none of the winners were at work on Monday, although they had "popped in" to speak to those at the factory.

"They are still on cloud nine. It really hasn't sunk in yet, they are still full of adrenaline," he said.

'Stunned and shocked'

"It is excellent news. Everybody in the factory is really on a high."

Mrs McColm, 53, is reported to have told the Daily Record newspaper that she was "stunned and shocked" by the win.

"I've never been that lucky. You never expect to win these things. I haven't come down yet," she said.

She also suggested that she would not be returning to the factory, adding: "I can't stand salmon. I'm glad I'll never need to look at it again."

Lottery operator Camelot has refused to confirm details of the winners.
