| Friday, 1 December, 2000, 11:26 GMT Actress tells of family feud ![]() Daniela Nardini is frustrated at her family's business feud Actress Daniela Nardini has spoken for the first time about the legal battle which has split her family. Speaking on the BBC's Kirsty Wark Show, she voiced her frustration over the courtroom squabbling for control of the family's famous ice cream brand name. Miss Nardini confessed to feeling "sad" that her father Aldo was locked in a legal fight with her uncle Peter to use the name on products. The feud started when Aldo Nardini was removed from the board of the famous Ayrshire ice-cream firm.
This ruling however is being appealed by the original Nardini group, on whose board Aldo's brother Peter sits. "I think if anything I feel sad mostly that it has got to this stage, " said the star of a number of hit television series, including This Life. The Nardinis brought in outsider David Henry to revive the fortunes of the chain after several disappointing years. But Aldo Nardini did not agree with his ideas for developing the business and left after being voted off the board. Sheriff's ruling Mr Henry has since spent 600,000 on bringing the Nardini ice cream factory up to European standards and has taken legal action against Aldo to protect the brand. He said: "We would be prepared to accept Aldo using the Nardini name for his ice-cream as long as he complies with the sheriff's ruling and doesn't imitate our brand logos. "But we are not yet confident that he will do that, so we are still considering further court action." Miss Nardini said that she sometimes thinks about taking her frustration out on the famous shop where she used to work. "I would quite like to throw a stone through the window, " she said. "I haven't done it yet." The Kirsty Wark Show can be seen on BBC One Scotland at 2130 GMT on Friday. |
