Labour has retained control of Lancashire County Council but with a reduced majority. It won 44 seats compared with 31 for the Conservatives. The Lib Dems now have six seats at County Hall with one Green and two independents.
Council leader, Hazel Harding, won her Rossendale West seat by just 43 votes, while 21-year-old Sean Serridge won the Whitworth seat for Labour.
In Cheshire, the Conservatives lost two seats but held on to power.
They have 26 councillors, compared to Labour's 16 and the Liberal Democrats' eight.
There is one independent councillor.
