David Cameron has taken up residence in 10 Downing Street as Britain's new Prime Minister.

The Conservative leader had come from Buckingham Palace where he had been invited by The Queen to form a new government after Gordon Brown tendered his resignation earlier.

Mr Cameron is the 12th Prime Minister of the Queen's reign and takes office after five days of talks on forming a government with Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats.

Political Editor Nick Robinson reports on the day's historic events.
