Labour retains seat in Houghton and Sunderland South

The first result of the night came from Houghton and Sunderland South within 52 minutes of polls closing.

Labour's Bridget Phillipson won with 19,137 votes, a 50.33 per cent share, but with a swing to the Conservatives.
