Prime Minister Gordon Brown is preparing to announce that the general election will be held on 6 May.

Speaking ahead of the announcement, Conservative leader David Cameron said he would be explaining to voters around the country they had a "big choice", and only the Conservatives had the "energy, the leadership, the values to get things done in our country".
