Gordon Brown will give evidence to the inquiry into the Iraq war before the next general election.
The chairman of the inquiry, Sir John Chilcot, has said the Prime Minister had written to him, agreeing to appear before the inquiry in February or March.
The news has been welcomed by the opposition parties - the Shadow Foreign Secretary William Hague said Mr Brown "clearly has questions to answer"
