David Cameron has confirmed that the Conservative party does not support Tony Blair as a candidate for the EU presidency.

Speaking at his monthly press briefing, Mr Cameron reiterated his party's opposition to the Lisbon treaty and said the British public "had been cheated" over it, having been promised a referendum on any EU constitution.

Downing Street had earlier denied claims Gordon Brown has been lobbying for Tony Blair to become the first European president.
