Straw wants new fees authority

Jack Straw has admitted that the blacking out of certain MPs' expenses details gave "a terrible impression".

Speaking on the Andrew Marr Show, Mr Straw said the election of a new Speaker, along with new legislation, should establish a new, independent "parliamentary standards authority", both to administer and to set the allowances.
