PM regains support of critical MP

Gordon Brown has been told to resign at a meeting of Labour MPs.

It has emerged that the former Home Secretary, Charles Clark, said the Prime Minister had to step aside, in the wake of disastrous local and European elections.

However, the senior Labour backbencher Barry Sheerman - who had previously been critical of Mr Brown - now says he has been persuaded to back the Prime Minister.
