Conservative MP Andrew Mackay has announced he will stand down at the next general election, after a phone call with David Cameron.

Mr Mackay and his wife Julie Kirkbride, who is also a Conservative MP, have been heavily criticised for both claiming second home allowances.

He had already resigned as an aide to David Cameron.

Ben Wright reports.
