Speaker defiant over Hoey attack

House of Commons Speaker Michael Martin has refused to apologise to Labour MP Kate Hoey for comments he made about her on Monday.

Mr Martin chided Ms Hoey during a heated debate on MPs' expense, saying he had heard her "pearls of wisdom on Sky News".

On Tuesday, another Labour MP, David Winnick, called on Mr Martin to say sorry for the "personal" attack, but he brushed the issue aside.
