Former Conservative minister Douglas Hogg has denied asking for £2,000 to cover the cost of clearing a moat on his estate in the latest round of revelations of MPs' expenses.
He insists that he acted within "the spirit and letter of the rules" with his claims.
The latest revelations in The Daily Telegraph newspaper include the allegation that three MPs made claims relating to cleaning or repairs of swimming pools at their second homes.
