The actress Joanna Lumley has told a committee of MPs that she has received a letter of support from a member of the royal family for her campaign to ensure all former Gurkha soldiers are given the right to settle in the UK.
She was addressing a meeting of the Home Affairs select committee following a vote in the Commons which showed the majority of MPs support the Gurkhas' fight for the right to settle in the UK.
