There was no mention of an e-mail smear campaign at a Labour online strategy meeting with Derek Draper and Damian McBride, according to Kevin Maguire.
The associate editor of The Mirror told the BBC he had been at the meeting with Labour general secretary Ray Collins, and there was "absolutely categorically" no mention of the intended smears.
He said: "Labour has a pretty useless campaigning front on the internet, and they were asking people how they could improve it."
