Salmond questions HBOS takeover

Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond has called for clarification on the rescue package offered to British banks.

He wanted to know whether the money would be available if HBOS remained independent, or if it was dependent on the proposed HBOS merger with Lloyds TSB.

Mr Salmond told a BBC Scotland webcast hosted by Brian Taylor that the merger threatened thousands of jobs in Scotland.
