Alastair Darling statement to MPs

Chancellor Alistair Darling has addressed MPs regarding the stability of the financial system.

He said action would be taken to support the banking system as a whole as well as supporting individual banks.

Shadow Chancellor George Osbourne said the Conservatives were ready to help.
