Lib Dem Brian Paddick picked up by far the most second preference votes in the race to be mayor of London, according to figures just released. Mr Paddick, who came third in contest, had 641,412 second preference votes - he got 236,685 first preferences. The Greens' Sian Berry was next with 331,727 second preference votes - while Labour's Ken Livingstone got 303,198 second preferences. Overall winner Boris Johnson picked up 257,792 second preference votes. But he was far enough ahead of Mr Livingstone on first preferences to ensure his rival could not close the gap. Mr Livingstone and Mr Johnson's second preference totals were eventually reduced to 135,089 and 124,977 respectively as second preference votes were not counted, if the first preference was one of the top two candidates. The figures show BNP candidate Richard Barnbrook got 128,609 second preferences while UKIP's Gerard Batten got 113,651. Christian Choice candidate Alan Craig got 80,140, the English Democrats' Matt O'Connor got 73,538, the Left List's Lindsey German got 35,057 and independent candidate Winston McKenzie got 38, 954 second preference votes.
