CONFERENCE DIARY
Samantha Cameron put her foot in it at the traditional Press v Tories football match. Asked at halftime with the press leading 8-0, if she was enjoying the game, she replied: "It is fascinating, we don't seem to be doing very well at the moment, but hopefully it will improve second half." Final score 10-0. Theresa May is known for her love of exotic footwear but she has really surpassed herself this week. The shadow leader of the house appeared on the conference stage earlier in a pair of leopard print Wellington boots. Just because Tories from the shadow cabinet down have been mucking in at various community projects around the country doesn't mean a girl can't look good... The Tories may have the snazziest stage set - their giant backdrop features clouds that actually move - but they were let down earlier by their sound system, which delayed the start of proceedings by 20 minutes. William Hague's theory is that it was designed for John Prescott. "It was intended to make completely jumbled up speech sound clear and it does the same in reverse," he explained to delegates.
