July date set for spending plans
Gordon Brown
It will be Mr Brown's fourth spending review as chancellor
Chancellor Gordon Brown will unveil his spending plans for the next three years on 12 July.

The chancellor's spending review will show the government cash proposals from 2005 to 2008.

The review is expected to form a key plank of Labour's campaign for the general election, which is tipped to be held next spring.

Commentators are warning that Mr Brown faces his tightest budget battles since his early years in the Treasury.
