Boy, 8, found on street in snow

The little boy was found by a taxi driver

A investigation has begun after an eight-year-old boy was found sitting on the road side in sub-zero temperatures in Londonderry on Wednesday morning.

He was discovered in the snow by a taxi driver at about 0630 GMT. He was outside a shop in Ballymagroarty.

The driver wrapped the boy in a blanket until an ambulance took him to hospital. His condition has not been disclosed.

Social Services have started an investigation.

The police said they have made contact with the boy's mother.
