The charity has seen an increase in people needing help |
The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in Londonderry has said it has seen a big increase in the number of people seeking advice on debt since April. The charity has dealt with a rise in inquiries during the credit crunch. In one day they dealt with two house repossessions and six insolvencies. Rosemary McCormack, a supervisor with Derry CAB said many people are running out of ways to manage their debts. "We're finding a great number of people now considering bankruptcy," she said. "Previously people would have been in a position where they could've considered a wide range of options, like debt management plans or Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs), but that's no longer the case," she added.
