Health warning after fish kill
Dead fish
Scores of dead fish were discovered in the river
A health board has warned the public to stay away from a County Down river following a further fish kill.

Scores of dead fish were discovered in the Ballybannon River in Annesborough near Castlewellan on Monday.

Investigators are trying to uncover the cause of the kill but in the meantime an Eastern Health Board spokesman has warned the public to avoid the river.

Further tests are to be carried out at the site on Tuesday.

The incident follows the death of tens of thousands of fish in the Moyola River in County Londonderry two weeks ago.

A reward of 1,000 has been offered for any information which may uncover the cause of the Moyola incident.
