Disruption to flights continues

Services from Luton Airport have been severely disrupted by snow

Flights due into Northern Ireland from snowbound airports across the United Kingdom are still being hit by delays.

At Belfast International Airport, Easyjet flights from Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool, Edinburgh and the London airports have been delayed.

At Belfast City Airport a number of Ryanair, Flybe and British Midland flights have been affected.

The late arrival of inbound flights is having a knock-on effect on departures at both airports.

Easyjet has cancelled more than 150 flights across the UK because of the snow.

Passengers at Luton have been told they may not get Easyjet flights until January.

People hoping to travel over the next few days are urged to contact their carriers for the latest information.

Ice and light snow showers overnight across Northern Ireland also made roads treacherous for drivers.

It also forced a number of schools to close on Tuesday.

The manager of City of Derry airport, Damien Tierney, said staff worked through the night to keep the airport open.

"The problem with this type of weather is that as soon as you get it cleared it snows again and you have to start from scratch."

Further snowfalls also meant Belfast Zoo remained closed for a second day. The Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge on the north coast was also out of operation.
