 Mark Young died following Saturday's race crash |
Cookstown rider Mark Young has died in hospital following a crash at the North West 200. He was involved in a crash in the 250cc race on Saturday, and was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast with internal injuries. The 22-year-old had his first race in 2002 and was the winner of four Irish national road races. Antrim rider John Anderton who crashed in a practice session on Tuesday remains in a critical condition. Course clerk Mervyn Whyte said he and members of Coleraine and District Motor Club were "devastated by the news" of Mr Young's death. The accident happened at Mather's Cross, between Coleraine and Portrush. At last year's North West 200, motorcycling star Robert Dunlop was killed in an accident in the same area during a practice session.
