Top UK rally star's car stolen

Wyn Humphries' car
The rally car has still not been found

A car belonging to one of the top rally drivers in the UK has been stolen in County Tyrone.

A trailer carrying the Subaru Impreza was taken from outside an inn near Coalisland at about 0430 BST on Friday.

The car belongs to Welsh driver Wyn Humphreys, who is in Northern Ireland for the Ulster leg of the British rally championship this weekend.

Police are trying to trace a blue van seen in the area at the time.

"To get woken up at 5am to hear the car and trailer have gone is a big shock. It has never happened to us before," said Mr Humphreys, who is from Aberdyfi in Gwynedd.

"I know it does happen, but it is one of those things you think will never happen to you."

Mr Humphreys' father Gareth, 55, who is with him, said: "We're absolutely gutted. We've looked after this car like a child. We know every nut and bolt."

The stolen car is green, white and black.
