Shick was removed from a Zoom Airlines flight at Belfast International airport |
A Canadian children's entertainer has been jailed for a year after an air rage incident on board a transatlantic flight from Vancouver to Belfast. Michael Roy Shick, 40, of Harwood Street, Vancouver, wept as he was sentenced at Antrim Crown Court. Shick was taken off a Zoom Airlines jet at Belfast International in March after abusing passengers and staff while intoxicated through alcohol and drugs. He had previously pleaded guilty to six charges including three of assault. Judge Patrick Lynch QC told Shick he was "one of the most hapless visitors to these shores that I have had to deal with." He said that because of his behaviour he had lost his home, his good character and, potentially, his job. Shick is to be deported to Canada.
