Mr Robinson said education issues must be resolved | Resolving the problems over education is an issue which could define the executive, the first minister has said.
Peter Robinson said they needed to "get into negotiation mode" and get down to the business of reaching agreement. Mr Robinson said if they could agree over education it would show they could agree over anything. Education Minister Caitrona Ruane said she was confident of a resolution and looked forward to hearing his ideas. "I will be bringing proposals to the executive table for further discussion," she said. "The last discussion wasn't very useful, let's hope the next one is a better one. I am available for discussion at any time in relation to my proposals." 'Disappointed' Meanwhile, Ms Ruane has written to all grammar schools saying she is disappointed one group is to go ahead with common entrance exams to replace the 11-plus. She warned of legal difficulties and suggested the schools ask the Association for Quality Education for a copy of the legal advice its been given. It has revealed details of the tests it plans to offer next year, in a pack sent to all primary schools. The minister told the grammar schools they should be in no doubt that she will not fund, facilitate or in any way support a breakaway entrance test.
