The announcement will be made later in Paris, where the company is taking part in the International Air Show.

The Dunmurry plant produces components for aircraft wings, using a new technology known as resin transfer moulding.

Michael Ryan of Shorts Bombardier said they are lighter and more durable than traditional metal structures.

"We've been working on advanced composites for many years, but their introduction into aircraft manufacture is becoming more widespread at every level," he said.

"At Bombardier we have been using them on our regional jets, and our business jets are also starting to incorporate more of this technology."

Economy Minister Nigel Dodds will view the technology on Tuesday when he visits Bombardier's display at the Paris Airshow.

He will also meet a group of six smaller companies who are taking part in the show as part of the Invest Northern Ireland stand.

The firms are hoping to win new international business this week.

The show attracts almost 140,000 trade buyers from all over the world.
