Lesley Garrett is appearing at the proms at city hall |
More than 5,000 people have descended on the grounds of Belfast City Hall for Proms in the Park. The good weather held up as, for the fifth year running, BBC NI and Belfast City Council teamed up with the Ulster Orchestra for a night of music.
International classical music stars, big screens and lighting displays have been a key part of the event.
The free event links the Last Night of the Proms in London to five other venues across the UK.
The Ulster Orchestra, conducted by Kenneth Montgomery, is joined by soprano sensations Lesley Garrett and Ailish Tynan, violinist Nicola Benedetti and the Ulster Youth Choir.
Ms Garrett told the BBC's Newsline programme that the last night of the proms was a firm favourite.
"It's the way everybody can join in, it is the prom for the people," she said.
