Connor Bogues was lost at sea on Thursday |
Bad weather has halted the search for the body of a second fisherman missing after a boat sank near a County Down port last Thursday. Ballynahinch man Connor Bogues, 26, has been lost at sea since the vessel hit rocks near Ardglass.
The body of his friend, Donall Gibson, 22, from Downpatrick, was recovered by divers on Sunday. A third man survived.
Divers were involved in the operation on Monday. The searches will resume on Tuesday morning.
PSNI Superintendent Ralph Taggart said there had been "a major difficulty" in relation to the weather.
"This is a terrible tragedy and one which we are actively investigating, and are actively involved in other partner agencies to recover the body," he said.

"We have mounted a massive operation together with other partner agencies, initially trying to locate the missing people from the boat tragedy.
"Now, unfortunately, we are looking for the recovery of the poor missing individual, Conor Bogues."
He said the police team was put together as quickly as possible.
The agencies would resume their search for the body first thing on Tuesday morning, he said.
"It is of paramount importance for us that we recover the body for the sake of the family."
'Beginning to grieve'
Hundreds attended a cross-community vigil for the men at the quayside in Ardglass on Sunday night.
Father Robert Fleck said the ceremony had brought some peace.
"The two people who have been lost at sea, their families are now in the process of beginning to grieve," he said.
"One has the joy, if you could call it that, of having the body recovered, the other family is still waiting for that to happen.
"Please God that will happen fairly soon."
A piece of wreckage from the ship was washed up on the shore |
The three men had been on board the vessel, the Greenhill, when it sank near Ardglass harbour on Thursday. The skipper of the vessel was rescued and was taken to hospital.
The following day, the wreckage of the missing vessel was located near the fishing port.
The official search and rescue operation ended on Friday, but local people carried on searching over the weekend.
On Sunday, volunteer divers searched the area around the sunken boat, whilst friends and fellow fishermen helped in the operation.
A body was found near the wreckage of the Greenhill at about 1500 GMT by divers from a search and rescue team in Dundalk in the Republic of Ireland. Fishing crews from other Ardglass boats helped to bring the body ashore.
The police later confirmed that it was the body of Mr Gibson.
Alec Slater from the Fishermen's Mission said recovering a body was an "answer to prayers".
"(There is) a sense of relief for all concerned and also a great hope that the other body will be found and recovered fairly quickly," he said.
The BBC's Andy Martin, who was with the search team when the body was found, said it was a "painful moment for his friends, but it also brought a sense of peace".
"The three men on the boat were good friends as well as workmates, and all in Ardglass are hoping that searches on Monday will bring home Conor Bogues," he said.
The police, Army, coastguard and two lifeboats had been involved in a major land, air and sea operation.
Fishing trawlers had also been dragging nets in the area where the boat went down, in the hope of recovering the men's bodies.
