Service aims to help homeless people
Service aims to help homeless people
A unique new service for homeless people in Belfast will be unveiled later by the charity Extern.

A support team, made up of social workers and nurses, will work with and support homeless people.

It is the first of its kind in the British Isles.

Funded by the Housing Executive, Health and Social Services bodies and the Probation Board, the service gives support where it is needed most.

The team will work with the relevant statutory and voluntary agencies to provide help and advice for homeless people which will continue even after they have found accommodation.

Project manager of the service Kim Kerr said she believed it would make a real difference.
