Aerospace company Bombardier is to suspend temporarily production of a 50-seat regional jet, the fuselage for which is made at Shorts in Belfast. However, the company has said it does not believe this will have any impact on jobs in Northern Ireland beyond the possible cuts already announced.
In August, the firm said that it might have to make up to 230 people redundant as part of a cost-cutting programme.
It said it is doing all it can to bring in more work for the Belfast plant.
"We understand the concern our employees have when facing the current market driven issues," Bombardier said.
"The management team in Belfast is working extremely hard to source further work for the site, and everyone must work together to meet the significant cost reduction challenges that we face on our existing programmes or potential new work opportunities."
