Caron Keating was the daughter of TV presenter Gloria Hunniford |
The Caron Keating Foundation - formed following the death of the popular television presenter earlier this year - was launched on Monday. The mother of two, who began her career with BBC Northern Ireland, died in April this year.
The 41-year-old had fought a seven year battle against breast cancer.
The foundation, set up by Caron's widower Russ Lindsay and her mother, broadcaster Gloria Hunniford, will raise money for cancer charities.
Gloria Hunniford said she hoped the foundation may mean the difference between life and death for cancer sufferers.
She was speaking after a Northern Ireland journalist helped kick-start the fundraising campaign in aid of the foundation last month.
Broadcaster and author Keith Baker was one of 50,000 people to take part in the Great North Run in Tyneside - one of the world's biggest half-marathons.
