Airline call centre jobs boost
More people are booking flights online
Up to 50 extra staff are to be recruited by British Airways to its call centre in Belfast.

The move, announced on Tuesday, follows a major restructuring by the company.

It said the decision followed the growing number of people who book tickets via the internet, and a drop in telephone sales.

Call centres in London and Glasgow are to close with the loss of 400 jobs.

The work will be transferred to offices in Manchester and Newcastle as well as Belfast.

The announcement will reassure the company's 100 staff in the province who had feared that the local call centre could be in line for closure.
