NI airline is launched
Belfast International Airport
Primeflight will fly from Belfast International Airport
The launch of a new, locally owned, scheduled airline for Northern Ireland was announced on Monday.

Primeflight will fly directly to Brussels twice a day from Belfast International Airport.

The company's seven seater service, the Piaggio P180, is aimed at business travellers who want to avoid changing planes when flying to Europe.

The first scheduled service will be a twice daily, non-stop flight to Brussels National Airport, starting on 1 March, with further European destinations planned for later in the year.

If it proves to be successful, flights to Zurich, Geneva and Frankfurt could follow.

At Belfast International Airport and Brussels National Airport, the airline will offer its customers fast track check-in and access to a business lounge.

Giles Atkinson, managing director of the airline, said: "With its non-stop scheduled services, Primeflight now offers the Northern Ireland business traveller the opportunity to fly to continental Europe, do a full day's business and fly back home the same evening, saving both time and money.

"I am delighted to be heading up this exciting new venture and, with the support of the local business community, we hope to be able to expand our range of destinations in the very near future."

Bookings on the new non-stop service to Brussels can be made from Monday via the website or by telephone.

The airline is backed financially by a local consortium of business people.

Primeflight is the trading name of Flightexcel Ltd.
