Attacks force doctors to move
Dr Sandra Elliott
Dr Sandra Elliott said she felt she couldn't go back to work
A doctors' out-of-hours centre in County Armagh is to move after being repeatedly attacked.

The Southern Health Board confirmed on Monday that the practice at Moylinn in Craigavon would be relocated as soon as arrangements could be put in place.

In October, Dr Sandra Elliott was left badly shaken after she was set upon by two hooded men with baseball bats.

Dr Elliot told BBC Radio Ulster on Monday that the move should take place as soon as possible.

"I couldn't go back into work - personally, I felt as if I was putting my life on the line going back into that area," she said.

"I just felt it wasn't worth it, and I wasn't prepared to do it."

Verbal and physical assaults on health care workers in Northern Ireland have soared to 5,065 in 2002/03, according to Department of Health statistics.

This is an increase of about 3,000 on the previous year.
