Attacked girl 'traumatised'
Derry street
Girl was beaten with a broken bottle by a gang in Londonderry
The mother of a Londonderry teenager has spoken out following an attack on her daughter at the weekend.

Natasha Nelson, 15, was treated in hospital for a cut to her neck and bruising to her body.

She was beaten and attacked with a broken bottle by a gang at Fergleen Park in the Galliagh area of Derry.

Her mother, Heidi, said the whole family had been left traumatised.

"We haven't slept over the weekend," she said.

"I have got other children growing up in the area as well.

"These thugs have to be stopped. The gangs have to be stopped - there is nobody getting peace.

"If that girl had gone any further, she would have hit the right place with the bottle - the doctor said if it had have been any deeper she would have bled out.

"It has been very traumatising - she fainted yesterday after having a bath. She is very pale, has not been eating and is very withdrawn."
