'Lenient' crash sentences review
Attorney General Lord Goldsmith
Attorney General Lord Goldsmith calls for sentences review
"Unduly lenient" sentences imposed on four drivers involved in fatal road crashes are to be reviewed by the Court of Appeal.

A special two-day hearing is to be held next month to review suspended sentences imposed on four drivers for causing death by dangerous driving.

The hearing, to be presided over by Lord Chief Justice Sir Robert Carswell, follows a request from the attorney general, who decided they had got off too lightly.

Attorney General Lord Goldsmith is also to ask the Court of Appeal to reconsider a suspended sentence of 15 months imposed on a driver for causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.

The move has been welcomed by the group, Families Bereaved Through Car Crime.
