Delegates attended the conference at Queen's University Belfast

Trade union officials, academics and members of equality organisations took part in the event on Friday.

They discussed experiences of racism in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and examined the legal response to them.

On Tuesday, Northern Ireland Office Minister Des Browne set up a race forum to tackle the problem in the province.

There has been a dramatic increase in racist attacks in Northern Ireland in recent years.
