Three pipe bombs have been found during a security operation in north Belfast.

Army bomb experts were called to the Serpentine Road at 1830 BST on Wednesday after a number of suspicious objects were found

The area was cordoned off while an examination got under way.

A short time later police said they found what they believed to be three pipe bombs.

The security operation is continuing.

Serpentine Road is off the Whitewell Road, the scene of recent sectarian clashes.

Several pipe bomb attacks have also taken place.
